On Friday, September 2, Parker Police Officers responded to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office request for assistance with a suicidal individual. When officers arrived on scene, the suspect had shot and critically injured Douglas County Sheriff’s Detective Dan Brite and was actively shooting at law enforcement officers as well as civilians. This threat to the public ended when Parker Police Officer Ronnie Dorrell fatally shot the suspect. An AK 47 with a high capacity drum barrel was recovered at the scene.
When Officer Dorrell arrived on scene, Douglas County Sheriff's Office Detective Dan Brite had already been critically shot by the suspect. When you watch the video, the first 30 seconds doesn't have audio. When an officer hits record on his body worn camera, the previous 30 seconds of video is saved without audio.The point where the audio starts is where Officer Dorrell hit record on his body worn camera.
